Our Values
We are a values-led organisation. The following five core values have been distilled from everything we do:
Empathy
The breadth of services Rainer provides is offered by many voluntary organisations; the difference with Rainer is the quality of care and empathy we offer. Rainer has a genuine interest in listening to and learning from young people. This ensures that relationships are meaningful and services are effective.
Respect
Rainer's history, work, ethos and working practices are all based on respect. Respect for young people, for the value of their lives; respect for their opinions, needs and aspirations; respect for the ability of other organisations and service providers to deliver complementary and collaborative services; respect for staff and volunteers and their very real and practical expertise in helping young people.
Acceptance
Rainer succeeds because it provides acceptance. It offers people the opportunity to be themselves. Working with young people, Rainer knows that growing up can be difficult and can lead to changes in behaviour. Rainer understands that these changes are not representative of the whole personality. So while challenging inappropriate behaviour, Rainer never loses sight of the whole person.
Responsibility
Recognising that individuals have a range of needs which all need to to be met means that Rainer has a realistic sense of its responsibility for the whole person, we do not provide one service in isolation. Responsibility is also a feature of what we expect and foster in young people - a responsibility to themselves and to other people.
Flexibility
The work of Rainer demands great flexibility. Each client is treated as an individual, and relevant services are tailored to meet his or her needs. Each location determines its own requirements. We collaborate flexibly with partners from all sectors - private, public and not-for-profit - in the interest of what works.
